On this their second CD, Barachois gives us 14 tracks evenly split between songs and tunes. With the exception of three slower songs, it's all delightfully upbeat stuff, not too fast, but with bags of life and plenty of imaginative percussion giving interesting rhythmic variation... one of the best to come out of North America in recent years. The Barachois release opens with Pot Pourri, a traditional Acadian nonsense song that playfully sets the tone for the album. The trademark, tickity-tack Acadian rhythm leads into astounding layered vocal arrangements that break out into joyous call-and-response choruses. Fiddle breaks fling the tune into a new direction.
